Pie Crust
Put ingredients in order of listing in a food processor and mix it up. Or alternately, use your fingers or a pastry cutter and cut the butter into the dry ingredients, then add water to make a sticky mess. Form your mess into a ball and put it in the fridge (preferably covered or wrapped in wax paper) for at least 20 minutes. Pie Filling
Put all ingredients in a bowl and mix them up until thoroughly coated. Crumble Topping
Use your fingers or a pastry cutter to mash this stuff together. If it doesn't crumble, add more brown sugar and flour. It's for flavor, so you can't really go wrong. AssemblageSplit the dough into two and then roll one of them out for the pie crust bottom. Put it in the pie pan, and add the pie filling. Crumble the crumble on top. Roll out the second piece of dough and make cuts in the top to let everything bubble through. Use cookie cutters or your imagination to cut holes. Tuck the edges of the two pie pieces together. Brush the top of the pie with water and liberally sprinkle with white sugar. Put a piece of foil over the top of your pie and cook it in a pre-heated 350 degree oven (or lower if the ghost turns it down) for 45 minutes. Remove the foil and cook for approximately another 45 minutes until top is golden brown. |
